Istros - silver Drachm minted 400-350 B.C.,

  • Obverse: Two male heads, one inverted; variously interpreted as the rising and setting sun, the “Dioscuri,” and the supposed two branches of the Danube
  • Reverse: Dolphin being attacked by sea eagle

Custom mounted into a 14k yellow gold bezel pendant with 14k white gold prongs and bail. Measures approximately 1 inch from the top of the bail to the bottom of the bezel, 3/4 inch across.

Istros was located on the Black Sea, at the mouth of the Danube. The colony of the once powerful city of Miletos destroyed in 493 B.C. by Darius the Great of Persia.
