Ancient Greek silver Tetradrachm minted 449-413 BC in Athens.

Obverse: Bust of Athena, Goddess of Wisdom.

Reverse: Owl with olive leaves and crescent moon. Legend at right.

Custom mounted into a 14k yellow gold bezel pendant, measuring approximately 1 and 3/8ths inches from the top of the bail to the bottom of the bezel, 1 inch across.

Sprung fully grown from Zeus, the patroness of Athens was awarded the city after bestowing the olive tree upon mankind. Her sacred animal the owl helped Athena keep watch over mankind and eventually became a symbol of wisdom.
